Princess Griselda of the Ragnanival Kingdom is a supporting character in the main storyline of Erion Saga book series, whose one of the two princesses of the Ragnanival Kingdom (the other being Gwendolyn) she was Odin's first daughter in his second marriage with unmentioned second lover after his affair with Princess Ariel, she was the older sister of Gwendolyn, and a younger paternal half sister to the Valentine Twins (Velvet and Ingway), Griselda was the first user of the Gungnir Psypher before she handed it for use to her younger sister Gwendolyn shortly before her death by succumbing in her serious injuries from the battle which is the result of General Brigan's neglect of his battalion group while being part of it.

Profile Overview[]

King Odin's favored daughter, she is called gallant and noble by those of Ragnanival and was very focused as a warrior. This focus caused her to be utterly merciless to her foes and as a result she could be the source of the rumor of Odin's Witch who is said to be a cold-hearted and evil individual who kills for the pleasure of it. This is noted when Cornelius is in Ragnanival she states outright that if she had found him she would've killed him on the spot unlike Gwendolyn who spared him. However despite this she does seem to care for her sister Gwendolyn and when she died she entrusted her spear to Gwendolyn.

Appearance Traits[]

Griselda is 22 years old woman she is 2 years older than her younger sister Gwendolyn, she has a similar looking appearance to her, through the battle dress attire, with only one difference because her battle dress attire is color purple while her younger sister Gwendolyn wears color blue battle dress attire.

Personality Classification[]

Griselda is loving and a caring sibling for her younger sister Gwendolyn, she would give her tips and encouragement words for her even after she died previously from the wounds she sustained in the battlefield during their faction's war for the cauldron's control against the fairies. However despite her love for her family she was a very cold and brutal individual to those against the Aesir. In Cornelius' story when he speaks with her she remarks that had she found Cornelius she would've slayed him on the spot with no hesitation. It is most likely this side of her created the ghastly rumors of the Odin's Witch being a cold-hearted monster.

Background Story[]

Like much of her younger sister Gwendolyn, nothing is much known about her past life before the main events of the game started but it is speculated that she grew up and spent her childhood time with her younger sister gwendolyn with their father in their kingdom homeland beyond from this statement nothing more is known about her past life.

Plotline Summary Perspective[]

Forsaked Leader[]

Princess Griselda was the commander of the Valkyrie army until she was ordered by her father, Demon Lord Odin, to lead the troops against the Fairy army of Ringford and claim the Crystallization Cauldron. However, due to the negligence of the army's general Brigan, she was killed by the enemy. Griselda is found by her sister Gwendolyn who attempts to comfort her in her dying moments. Griselda tells her not to worry, explaining that dying in battle would make their father praise and honor her deeds and that she would enter Heaven in peace. Griselda then passes on her weapon, the Psypher Spear, to Gwendolyn and tells her to not give up and claim victory for the honor of Ragnanival. Despite Griselda's confidence in their father's feelings, King Odin shows very little concern over his daughter's death, much to Gwendolyn's dismay.

The Blue Bird[]

Throughout the story, soon after Griselda's death, Gwendolyn is constantly visited by a small blue phantom-like bird who will try to explain to Gwendolyn that her intentions are not so noble, but Gwendolyn tries to explain otherwise. The blue bird also tries to convince Gwendolyn that she may truly love the Shadow Knight Oswald much to Gwendolyn's annoyance. At rare moments it may give useful advice to Gwendolyn in times of need. In frustration Gwendolyn tries to get rid of the bird but she is unable to as the bird is a mere phantom, also claiming that it is Gwendolyn's "true self." Near the end of the game, it is revealed that the bird is in fact Griselda who has been guiding Gwendolyn throughout her journey.

Armageddon[]

Last Stand[]

During the Armageddon the barriers of the Netherworld are broken and the spirits of the dead, led by King Gallon, invaded Erion with their first victim being the kingdom of Ragnanival. With all of his army now killed, the now unarmed Odin tries to stave off the undead soldiers but they soon overpower him. At the last minute they cease their attack as the phantom of Griselda enters Odin's throne room, Odin stares at his deceased daughter as she approaches and kneels down in front of her as he holds her hand and speaks of the sorrow he feels at not having showed her enough love and compassion during her life, hoping that she will forgive him for his foolishness. She rests her head on his chest as a sign of forgiveness just before a Halja appears and quickly takes Odin's life.

Reminder Illusion[]

Griselda appears as a spirit to Gwendolyn at the abandoned castle telling her to "knock down the crown." Despite her confusion, Gwendolyn flees the castle when it begins to be overrun by dead spirits. During the battle with the Dragon Levanthan, Gwendolyn remembers Griselda's words, noticing a crown embedded in the dragon's right horn, and continues to strike it until it is knocked off, thus ending the dragon's life. As Gwendolyn's wings begin to deteriorate, she thanks her sister for her help, passing out before being saved by Oswald.

Relationships[]

Demon Lord Odin[]

He sees Griselda as more favorable daughter and considered her to be more worthful heir like much of a unit treasure than his fourth child Gwendolyn since he prioritizes Griselda more than her, she was also selected as the expected successor of his throne when she was promoted to princess status however, for him Griselda was nothing more than a tool object for him as he intended to use Griselda as someone who will be going to capture the cauldron along with his top warlord Brigan to be brought to him that he will be using for his own gain interest such as conquering the entire Erion under his authority.

Princess Gwendolyn of the Ragnanival Kingdom[]

Griselda shows concern and care for Gwendolyn as her younger sister however Griselda herself was not actually aware that her younger sister seems to be jealous of her and that their father being more favorable of her than her younger sister Gwendolyn despite they receive the same care from their father and their status in the society of their kingdom.
